If you’re on the hunt for a great local cafe in the Glen Huntly area, look no further than St Zita. Situated near Glen Huntly station, this little cafe offers friendly service, delicious food and decent cup of coffee.

I visited midweek on a rainy Melbourne day with the little man in tow for a quick bite to eat. We sat ourselves near the window so I could tuck my stroller out of the way, but given it was cold near the door, Sonia (cafe owner) came right over and turned the heater on for us. We settled in under the warmth of the heater, I got a coffee and had a look at the menu.

The menu isn’t overly extensive or exploding with dishes that are trying to change the world, but what it does have is a few brunch staples (like corn and zucchini fritters) and some dishes with a difference (green eggs with ham – basil pesto with prosciutto). Having said that, if you’re after a sugar hit, then this may not be the place for you. There isn’t a pancake, French toast or waffle in sight.

I decided to give the pulled pork salad a crack (pulled pork salad with black turtle beans, avocado, cucumber, sweet corn, cabbage, apple & St.Zita dressing) and boy was I glad I did. It was packed full of different flavours that complemented each other perfectly and then there was that pork. It was tender, perfectly seasoned and down right delicious. I was so full, but I couldn’t stop eating it.

All in all we had a great lunch at St Zita’s, so if you live in the area, pop in and support a great local café.

I was invited as a guest of St Zita, however all of the opinions above are definitely my own – ain’t nobody gonna influence this girl!St. Zita's Cafe on Urbanspoon
