Lets be honest, offal isn’t really my thing. The very idea of it makes my stomach flip. So when I was invited to a Zomato (the new owners of Urbanspoon) dinner that was going to consist of offal based dishes, I honestly considered turning down the invitation. Fortunately for me I decided give it a crack and in the end I walked away with a whole new appreciation for all those forgotten (or some may say dreaded) off cuts.

With a very big focus on reducing food waste and removing the negative stigma around offal, the very talented team behind Luxembourg aim to show us that well cooked offal can be just as good as any other cut of meat.

On this particular evening, we were treated to a specially designed menu with matching wines, which showcased the very essence of Luxembourg.

The experience as a whole was really impressive. The food, as you’d expect was of an incredibly high standard, the service was second to none and the matched wines were superb (even the non wine drinkers amongst the group were impressed).

I can’t say that I’m completely on the offal bandwagon, but this experience has definitely changed by general perception of it. In particular the foie gras and bone marrow which were delicious. Bone marrow isn’t something that I’d normally consider eating, but after this, I’ll definitely consider it if I see it on another menu. The foie gras was absolutely divine! The only downside to this dish was that I had to share it with someone else.

So if you’re after a special night out with a bit of a difference, make your way to Luxembourg.

I was invited as a guest of Zomato and Luxembourg, however all of the opinions expressed are definitely my own.
