Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm
244 Shands Road
Main Ridge Vic 3928
This place has long been a drawcard for people visiting the area, for its great café, shop and of course public strawberry picking.
As you’d expect , the shop stocks all manner of strawberry paraphernalia, everything from freeze dried strawberries to strawberry wine to strawberry toys, and the café offers an extensive strawberry inspired menu.
On our most recent visit we ordered their famous strawberry temptation, which was simply divine (that coming from someone who is rather impartial to strawberries). Filled with fresh strawberries and topped with a scoop of each strawberry ice cream and sorbet which are both made on site, it was so big we shared amongst two of us. The ice cream wasn’t insanely sweet and the strawberry flavour was so fresh, it really was the best strawberry ice cream I’ve ever tasted.
Be warned this place gets insanely busy over holiday periods.
Main Ridge Dairy
295 Main Creek Road
Main Ridge Vic 3928
Specialising in high quality creamy goats cheese, Main Ridge Dairy is another favourite with visitors. Set in some of the most beautiful countryside, the shop provides visitors with an opportunity to speak with the cheese makers and sample all they have to offer. If you like what you’ve tasted, you can buy some to go, or order one of their tasting boards with a glass of wine to enjoy in the beautiful surrounds.
The $10 tasting plate is a great start as it includes a small sample of each cheese plus tasting notes. Pair that with a glass of wine and your afternoon is sorted.
Special mention goes to their Chevre, both plain and marinated were delicious.
