When my sister asked me to go to Dribbles Burgers, my immediate response was, ‘what? Dribble as in a dribbling baby?’. My sister shook her head, and gave me that ‘God you’re an idiot’ face. ‘No’ she said, ‘Dribbling as in bouncing a basketball, it’s basketball themed’. Ahhhhhh, and the light bulb in my head turned on.
Your basketball journey starts as soon as you open the front door. Walk up to the counter decorated with locker doors and order your choice of burger, each named after a legend of the game. Jordan, Lebron and Shaq, all make an appearance on a relatively small menu that doesn’t waste time on fancy or pretentious burger fillings. It’s all about the classics – cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, chicken burger and a mushroom burger thrown in for good measure. As lovers of a good chicken burger, we opted for the Birdman with its southern crispy fried chicken breast, cheese, coleslaw and sauces. Although a bit heavy handed with the cracked pepper, the burger was juicy, crisp and full of flavour. Of the few burgers we ordered, this was definitely our favourite.
You’re journey continues as you take a seat in the dining area. Pendant lights are cleverly hung in wall mounted basketball rings and you can catch up with the NBA on the big screen TV. Sip on your huge flavoured milkshake – peanut butter was our pick – or down a beer and enjoy your meal in this rather playful setting.
Despite being pretty full after enjoying a burger and shake, we couldn’t leave without trying their cheese and bacon fries. The generous serve was full of really crispy chips and topped with loads of creamy cheese and crispy bacon pieces. Despite not being a huge fan of the cheese, the bacon was deelish and those chips were super crunchy without being greasy. They were so addictive, before we knew it we’d polished off a large serve and vowed to return for another round.
